About ChildCareComp
Why we built this
We built ChildCareComp because opening and running a licensed childcare program should not require decoding 50 different state rulebooks. Licensing requirements are public information, but they are scattered across agency PDFs, statute databases, and outdated portals. We organize them for the people who actually have to comply with them.
The problem
Every state licenses childcare differently: different ratios, different square footage minimums, different director qualifications, different inspection checklists. Operators find out about gaps the hard way, during an inspection. Most citations are for predictable, preventable issues like expired CPR cards, incomplete staff files, and missing drill logs.
How ChildCareComp works
ChildCareComp maintains licensing guides for all 50 states covering requirements, the application process, the inspection process, common violations, and agency contacts, alongside free tools like the ratio calculator and compliance gap finder. The $79 Licensing Startup Pack assembles everything for your specific state and facility type into one printable document, with staff file templates and a first 90 days compliance calendar.
Who we are
The ChildCareComp Editorial Team researches and maintains our state licensing content. We are a small team focused on one thing: turning scattered state regulations into checklists and plans operators can act on. We are not a law firm and we do not replace your licensing agency; we make its requirements easier to follow.
